ATHENS, Georgia – With momentum on its side, the Oklahoma State women's golf team is set to compete in one of college golf's oldest and most interesting events, the 45th annual Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic at the University of Georgia Golf Course.
Much like the upcoming NCAA Championships, the LMCC is a combined stroke play/match play format that will pit the Cowgirls against seven other squads ranked among the GolfWeek top 50.
OSU, which has finished second or third in three of its last four events, will play 18 holes of stroke play on Friday before being seeded for three rounds of match play on Saturday and Sunday.
This will be the program's fourth appearance in the LMCC, and the first since 2009. The Cowgirls' best finish at the event came in 2004 when they finished fourth, while Karin Sjödin's third place finish in 2003 was the OSU's top individual performance.
The Cowgirls open play on Friday morning at 9:50, and you can follow the live scoring at BirdieFire.com.
