ATHENS, Georgia – The Oklahoma State women's golf team wrapped up the stroke-play portion of the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic in a tie for fifth place, and will take on second-place Denver as the event moves to a match-play format for the next two days.
The Cowgirls shot 22-over 310 to tie with Auburn and Southern California for fifth place at the challenging UGA Golf Course, but dropped to the No. 7 seed after the tiebreaking rules were applied (fifth individual score).
OSU will open match play tomorrow morning against Denver, which posted a 15-over 303 in the opening round on Friday. A win over the Pioneers would pit the Cowgirls against the winner of No. 3 seed Alabama and No. 6 seed Southern California on Saturday afternoon. Should OSU fall to Denver, the Cowgirls would take on the loser of Alabama/USC.
Emma Broze led the way for OSU with a 3-over 75. The junior posted three birdies on the day to tie for 11th place overall.
Linnea Johansson and Maddie McCrary both carded 4-over 76 to tie for 14th place, while Isabella Deilert finished the first 18 holes in a tie for 50th after an 11-over 83.
Kenzie Neisen posted a 13-over 85 to finish stroke play in a tie for 53rd.
The Cowgirls will tee off at 8:40 a.m. on Saturday, and you can follow all the action at BirdieFire.com.
