Healthy Cowgirls Excited For Spring Opener In California
February 09, 2017 | Cowgirl Golf
PALOS VERDES, Calif. – Back to full strength after battling key injuries for much of the fall, the Oklahoma State women's golf team is excited to tee off the spring season at the prestigious Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge on Sunday.
The Cowgirls were without the services of two-time All-Big 12 selection Maddie McCrary and 2016 All-Big 12 Championship team member Emma Broze due to injury. McCrary will make her return at this week's Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge, and Broze will rejoin the Cowgirls at next week's event, the All-State Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate in New Orleans, La.
Currently ranked No. 18, OSU will face a field in Palos Verdes that includes 12 other squads ranked in the top 30 in the Golfstat national rankings. Hosted by Ohio State, the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge is in its 21st season.
The Cowgirls has participated in each of the last three NGRC events, and earned their best finish in 2015 when they finished fourth out of 16 squads with rounds of 292-297-294 -- 883 (+31).
Linnea Johansson also logged OSU's best individual finish in 2015 with her 70-74-74 -- 215 (+2). Last year, the Cowgirls tied for eighth place in a field that included nine top 25 squads.
