McCrary Earns Conditional LPGA Status As Cowgirl Trio Competes At Q School

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Oklahoma State was well represented at the final stage of LPGA Qualifying School, which saw a trio of Cowgirls compete in the five-round showcase at the Hills Course at LPGA International.
Cowgirl senior Maddie McCrary carded an even-par 360 to finish fourth among all amateurs and in a tie for 30th overall. The result earned McCrary conditional LPGA status and a Symetra Tour card for 2018, and she will forgo her final semester at OSU to turn professional.
McCrary's career at OSU ends with three All-Big 12 Conference selections and a 73.24 career stroke average, which is the third best in school history. The Wylie, Texas native won her first collegiate event, the Windy City Collegiate, in October.
Former Cowgirl All-American Linnea Johansson also earned Symetra Tour membership thanks to her advancement to the third stage of LPGA Q School. Johansson earned her first professional victory at the National Women's Golf Association (NWGA) Zellwood Championship in October, and will move up to the Symetra Tour for the 2018 season.
Johansson was a 2016 Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American as a junior, and was a three-time All-Big 12 and Academic All-Big 12 selection. Her 73.30 career stroke average ranks fourth in Cowgirl golf history.
Julie Yang, the 2014 Big 12 Player of the Year, also competed in the third stage of Q School, and finished in a tie for 98th at 8-over par. Yang has competed professionally since 2015 and has an LPGA top-10 finish under her belt.
