Landfall Tradition Site Of Cowgirl Golf History
October 25, 2017 | Cowgirl Golf
WILMINGTON, N.C. – The No. 9 Oklahoma State women's golf team will close out their fall campaign with the Landfall Tradition at the Country Club of Landfall, a course which has seen some of the best performances in program history.
Cowgirl Caroline Hedwall won the 2010 NCAA national championship at that course thanks to a 12-under par performance. Also, the Cowgirls won the 2012 Landfall Tradition championship, which was shortened due to Hurricane Sandy. That year, Kelsey Vines finished second after an opening round 69.
This year's Cowgirls will look to channel those performances this weekend. OSU will once again have the services of Maddie McCrary, who missed the Stanford Intercollegiate to attend LPGA Q-School in Florida. McCrary is currently ranked the No. 9 player in collegiate golf by Golfweek thanks to a 6-1 record against top-25 individuals.
McCrary isn't the only Cowgirl ranked among the nation's best by Golfweek. Two-time Big 12 individual champion Kenzie Neisen checks in at No. 55 in the rankings, Emma Broze is No. 89 and freshman Stephanie Astrup is No. 112.
The Cowgirls will be facing a field that includes 12 other squads ranked inside the Golfweek top-50, including No. 2 Alabama, No. 4 Duke and No. 7 South Carolina.
