Draws Announced For ITA Central Region Championships

STILLWATER – Both the singles and doubles draws for the ITA Men's Central Region Championships were released Wednesday evening. Oklahoma State travels to Minneapolis this year to play at the Baseline Tennis Center at the University of Minnesota.
Today's opening day of play will feature two rounds of doubles action and one round of singles play. OSU will field eight singles competitors and four doubles tandems in the tournament, including the No. 18 ranked Julian Cash.
Cash enters the event as the nation's No. 18-ranked singles player and are coming off a successful appearance in the main draw the Saint Francis Health System ITA Men's All-American Championships where he advanced to the round of 16.
Joining the nation's No. 18 singles player will be No. 10 Freshman/Newcomer in the nation, Maxim Tybar. The freshman Cowboy made an impressive debut this fall in Napa winning all his singles matches at the prestigious Silverado College Invitational. Senior Tristan Meraut will also be competing this weekend as the No. 112 ranked singles player.
Cash and freshman Luke Hammond will also compete for the first time as a doubles tandem this season coming in as the No. 25 ranked pair in the nation. They received a doubles first round bye.
All the other OSU doubles tandems will compete beginning today. Mathieu Scaglia and Brady Draheim face Bedlam rivals Davis and Bakshi in the first round. Jurence Mendoza and Maxim Tybar will face Cassasnovas and Izadifir of UMKC. Artur Dubinski and Lefty Theodorou will go head-to-head with Nebraska's Klousia and Grattan-Smith.
Top-seeded Cash along with Meraut and Tybar earned singles first round byes, while the remaining Cowboys will compete today.
Freshman Draheim faces off with Drake's Ben Clark in the first round. Senior and No. 25 seeded Mendoza will battle against Micha Kousia of Nebraska. The No. 15 seeded Dubinski first faces UMKC's Marc Cassasnovas. Sophmore Sacaglia will face Ben Wood of Drake, Hammond faces the number 17 seeded Joe Tyler of Iowa and Theodorou matches up against Charlie Parry of St. Louis.
