CAMBRIDGE, Ontario – Former Oklahoma State women's golfer Caroline Masson carded a 16-under par 272 to claim victory at the Manulife LPGA Classic – her first career professional win.
Masson, who recently represented Germany at the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, posted a double-bogey on the first hole on Sunday, but followed that with nine birdies over the next 16 holes to finish with a 67 and her first LPGA win.
"This means so much to me," Masson said following her victory. "I've been out here [on tour] for a long time it feels like. I've gotten better every year, and worked really hard. This is unreal."
Entering the weekend, Masson had 10 career top-10 finishes to her credit since turning pro in 2010. The Gladbeck, Germany, native was a 2009 NGCA All-American for OSU with a 73.91 stroke average in her lone season at Karsten Creek.
