STILLWATER – The Women's Golf Coaches Association named Oklahoma State women's golfers Chih-Min Chen and Linnea Johansson All-American Scholars.
The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics. The minimum cumulative GPA is 3.50, and a total of 828 golfers across the country were recognized for their accomplishments in 2015-16.
Nineteen different Cowgirls have now collected a total of 38 WGCA All-American Scholar awards in program history.
Chen, who is competing in the U.S. Women's Open this week in California, was named the Big 12 Freshman of the Year following a successful season in Stillwater. Her season stroke average of 73.59 is the second best by a Cowgirl freshman in school history behind only Caroline Hedwall's 72.94 in 2009.
The WGCA named Johansson an Honorable Mention All-American in May. This season, she earned her second straight All-Big 12, All-Big 12 Tournament and Academic All-Big 12 honors, and closed out her standout junior season with a 27th place finish at the NCAA Championship in Eugene, Oregon.
Johansson's season stroke average of 72.74 is the second best in school history, topped only by Caroline Hedwall's NCAA individual title season of 2010 (71.14).
