New Orleans Postgame Notes
November 16, 2016 | Cowboy Basketball
- The Cowboys scored 117 points, which are tied for the sixth most in program history.
- OSU is currently the only team in the country to reach the 100-point plateau in each of its first three games.
- The Cowboys reached the 100-point mark in three straight games for just the second time in school history. The only other time OSU accomplished that feat was in 1993-94.
- The Cowboys broke the school record for points in a first half with their 68-point explosion against UNO. The previous high was 67 points against Houston Baptist on Dec. 15, 1998. The 32-point halftime lead is the 9th largest in school history.
- Six Cowboy players reached double-figures for the first time since playing Utah Valley on Nov. 12, 2013.
- Leyton Hammonds posted his second career double-double with 15 points and a career-high 13 rebounds.
- Brad Underwood picked up his 92nd career victory in just his 106th game. That .868 win percentage would be tops among all active Division I coaches.
- Phil Forte did not go to the free throw line tonight. However, dating back to last season, Forte has hit 19 straight free throw attempts, and is 17-of-17 this season.
- The Cowboys are now 3-0 on the young season. OSU has gotten off to a 3-0 start in each of the last eight seasons. The last time OSU lost in one of its first three games was in 2007-08, when North Texas took down the Cowboys, 82-73, in Denton.
- OSU is now 9-3 all-time against New Orleans (7-0 in GIA) and 55-8 (.873) all-time against current members of the Southland.
- Gallagher-Iba Arena is one of the toughest venues for opponents in the country. Since 1989, the Cowboys are 200-7 (.966) in non-conference games in GIA. All-time OSU is 413-52 (.888) in GIA against non-con foes.
- OSU has made at least one three-pointer in 518 consecutive games dating back to Jan. 13, 2001.
- Davon Dillard saw his first action of the season, and scored his first points in 2016-17.
