STILLWATER – The Oklahoma State basketball team broke the 100-point mark, under new Head Coach Brad Underwood, for the first time since 2013 with a dominating 117-64 win over Pittsburg State on Tuesday night at Gallagher-Iba Arena.
The last time the Cowboys scored 100 points in any game - exhibition or regular season - was against Memphis in 2013, when they scored 101. The Cowboys also set a record high number of points in an exhibition game. The previous record was 115 in 1979 against Estonia Club of Canada.
The Cowboys are now 56-4 in exhibition play since the 1973-1974 season and extend its win streak in exhibition play to 30 games.
Oklahoma State jumped out to a quick 12-0 lead capped off by a right-wing 3-pointer from freshman Lindy Waters on his first collegiate shot attempt. Key turnovers and 14 assists helped Cowboys outscore Pittsburg State 57-26 in the first half.
OSU kept its momentum in the second half. The Cowboys hit the 100-point mark at with just a little over four minutes left to play. OSU ended the game with 26 assists and shot 65 percent on the night.
Jeffrey Carroll led six Cowboys in double figures with 22 points, while newcomer Waters led in rebounds with 7 and added 15 points on the night.
Cameron McGriff made his debut for the Cowboys with 16 points on 7-of-8 shooting, including five rebounds for the Cowboys.
OSU has never played Pittsburg State in a regular season game, but is now 2-0 against the Gorillas in exhibition play.
The Cowboys open up the 108th season of OSU basketball at home against Campbell on Nov. 11. Tipoff is slated for 7 p.m. on Fox College Sports and the Cowboy Radio Network.
