STILLWATER, Okla. -- Jawun Evans scored 34 points and Oklahoma State beat Campbell 102-65 on Friday night, giving head coach Brad Underwood a win in his Cowboys debut.
Evans, who was named the Big 12 Freshman of the Year last season, had 26 points at halftime and finished 11 for 18 from the field, with six rebounds, three assists and five steals. Evans' 34 points is his second-best career scoring performance behind only his 42-point outing against Oklahoma.
Fifth-year senior Phil Forte, III, who missed all but the first three games of last year with an elbow injury, and Jeffrey Carroll each scored 22 points for Oklahoma State (1-0). Freshman Cameron McGriff had 13 rebounds in his college debut and Carroll added nine.
This was the first time since Jan. 21, 2009 against Missouri that the Cowboys had three 20-point scorers.
The victory gives Brad Underwood his first as the head coach of the Cowboys, and the 90th of his career. OSU has now won 41 straight home openers at Gallagher-Iba Arena.
Several Cowboys made their first career appearances in an OSU uniform; Brandon Averette, Lucas N'Guessan, Lindy Waters, III, Tyler Underwood, Tre Reeves, Thomas Dziagwa and Cameron McGriff.
Chris Clemons scored 16 points to lead Campbell (0-1).
UP NEXT:
