Cowgirls Survive In Overtime Against Iowa State

STILLWATER, Okla. – Oklahoma State women's basketball won its fourth conference game of the season with a 79-76 victory over Iowa State on Wednesday in front of 1,926 fans inside Gallagher-Iba Arena.

With the win, OSU improved to 14-4 (4-3 Big 12) while ISU fell to 11-6 (3-3 Big 12).

Kaylee Jensen led all scorers in the contests as she posted a career-high 27 points, grabbed five rebounds and blocked four shots in the win. Jensen helped the Cowgirls dominate ISU inside, as they outscored the Cyclones 44-28 in the paint.

With seven seconds remaining in regulation and OSU leading by three, Brittney Martin fouled ISU's Seanna Johnson, who converted on all three free throws to tie the game at 66.

Karli Wheeler's 3-pointer at the buzzer hit the backside of the rim before missing long and sending the game into overtime.

Wheeler got another shot in overtime, and this time she drained the 3-pointer to put her team up 69-68 with three minutes to play. Martin followed up Wheeler's three with back-to-back jumpers as the Cowgirls took a four-point lead.

Martin recorded her fourth consecutive double-double, scoring 26 points and grabbing 14 rebounds in the contest. Six of the All-American's 29 career double-doubles have come against the Cyclones.

Martin also made 12 field goals in the game, moving her past Jamie Siess and into fifth-place on OSU's all-time list for field goals made.

After ISU cut the lead to one, Jensen made her presence felt once again as her layup made it a three-point game. Roddricka Patton then went to the free throw line where she made one of two shots to put the Cowgirls in front by four.

Patton, who came into the contest averaging 6.9 assists per game – seventh best nationally, dished out 13 assists in the game.

ISU cut the lead down to one again, but were forced to intentionally foul with 8.3 seconds remaining, sending Wheeler to the line. Wheeler drained both free throws for the Cowgirls, putting OSU in front 79-76.

The Cyclones' final shot bounced off the rim as time expired, clinching the victory for the Cowgirls.

OSU will be back in action on Sunday as it travels to Lawrence, Kan. to take on Kansas. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. inside Allen Fieldhouse.
