NORMAN, Okla. – Inclement weather forced the cancellation of Sunday's second round of the Schooner Fall Classic at Belmar Golf Club, where the Oklahoma State women's golf team leads by seven strokes over the field.
The tournament will resume for one final round starting Monday at 8:30 a.m.
Paced by freshman Chih-Min Chen, the Cowgirls shot an opening round 8-under 276, which is the third-best round in school history and the lowest since recording a 275 in the Dale McNamara Invite on Oct. 14, 2011.
Chen tied for the third lowest round ever by a Cowgirl with a 6-under par 276. Only Jayde Panos (65 at the 2011 Dale McNamara) and Amy Ruengmateekhun (65 at the 2012 Stanford Intercollegiate) have lower rounds in school history. Chen enters Monday's final round in second place behind Kansas' Yupaporn Kawinpakorn, who fired a Jayhawk school-record 8-under 63 on Saturday.
OSU won the Schooner Fall Classic in the only other time it played in the event in 2013.
