August 31, 2015 | Cowboy Tennis
STILLWATER - The Oklahoma State men's tennis team has unveiled its schedule for the 2015-16 season, which features 15 dual matches against teams that finished in the Top 75 of last season's final ITA Team Rankings. Â
"We have a very good schedule to meet the goals we want to accomplish this year," coach Jay Udwadia said. "We have an experienced squad now, so we're looking foward to the challenge of playing one of the toughest schedules in the country."
The Cowboys will make their fourth-consecutive appearance in the Napa Invitational, a three-day tournament in Napa, California beginning on Sept. 12. Oklahoma State will then head to the Cajun Classic in Lafayette, Louisiana, where returning Cowboy Arjun Kadhe made a finals appearance last fall. The team will conclude its fall campaign with the ITA National Indoors in Flushing Meadows, New York.
Among the seven Cowboys on the fall roster are returning two-time All-American Arjun Kadhe and Mississippi State transfer Julian Cash. Kadhe has marked his place in Cowboy history by earning consecutive All-American honors with former doubles partner Jakob Sude. Cash, a sophomore, comes to the Oklahoma State family with much success. At Mississippi State, Cash was named SEC Freshman of the Week (3/11), earned All-American honors, received 2015 Academic All-SEC honors and finished the season as the No. 14 doubles tandem in the nation with partner Florian Lakat.   Â
The remainder of the Cowboys' fall roster consists of Lukas Finzelberg, Lucas Gerch, Jurence Mendoza, Tristan Meraut and Nathan Roper.Â
For the third-consecutive season, OSU will open its spring dual match schedule at the Greenwood Tennis Center, as the Cowboys take on UNLV and Creighton for a season-opening doubleheader on Friday, January 15. Other notable non-conference matchups in Stillwater include encounters against Wake Forest, Minnesota, North Carolina State and Iowa.
On Jan. 22, the Cowboys will travel to Fort Worth, Texas, to compete in the ITA's annual Kick-Off Weekend, marking OSU's second-consecutive appearance in the tournament. Earning the No. 2 seed, Oklahoma State will play against Harvard in the first round, followed by a battle with either San Diego State or host-squad TCU.
Also in non-conference action, the Cowboys will head to San Diego, California to take on California in a neutral court match on March 3. Following the match, Oklahoma State closes their non-conference schedule with a battle against in-state rival Tulsa.
The Cowboys will open Big 12 competition on the road with two conference battles in Austin and Fort Worth, opening with an April 8 match against Texas and closing with a clash against TCU on April 10. Oklahoma State nearly took down the seventh-ranked Longhorns in Stillwater last season, coming up short in a 4-3 defeat.
Oklahoma State will close the regular-season with three-consecutive home matches against Texas Tech (4/15), Baylor (4/17) and Oklahoma (4/23).
After finishing the regular-season, the Cowboys will host the Big 12 Championships on April 28, marking the first time in school history Oklahoma State tennis will host the Big 12 Championship. Â
