Hedwall, Masson Named To European Solheim Cup Roster
August 25, 2015 | Cowgirl Golf
STILLWATER – Former Oklahoma State golfers Caroline Hedwall and Caroline Masson were once again named to the 2015 European Solheim Cup team, which will look to defend its title against the Americans next month in Germany.
Hedwall, of Sweden, won the NCAA individual championship as a Cowgirl in 2010, and was a two-time Big 12 Player of the Year. This will be her third Solheim Cup after as she clinched the 2013 championship for Europe after becoming the first player in the competition's history to win five individual matches.
Masson is currently ranked as the No. 77 golfer in the world, and will be competing in the Solheim Cup for a second time. The German went 2-1-1 in helping the Europeans win the 2013 event.
The 14th edition of the Solheim Cup will tee off from the St. Leon Golf Club in St. Leon-Rot, German on Sept. 18. The format of the three-day tournament is match play, and each match is worth one point. Fourteen points are required for the defending champion Europeans to retain the cup, while the Americans will need 15 to bring the trophy back the U.S.
