McCrary, Neisen Both Advance To Round Of 32 At U.S. Women's Am

PORTLAND, Ore. – Oklahoma State sophomores Maddie McCrary and Kenzie Neisen both advanced to the round of 32 at the 2015 U.S. Women's Amateur championships at the Portland Golf Club.
McCrary took down the world's No. 28 ranked amateur, Andrea Lee, 4-and-3, thanks to birdie putts on 14 and 15. Thursday, McCrary will take on University of San Francisco sophomore Vanessa Ha, who upset world No. 44 Jennifer Hahn, 4-and-3.
After surviving a 16-for-10 playoff just to earn a spot in the round of 64 earlier in the day, Neisen found herself squared up with Maria Fassi after 19 holes. The New Prague, Minn., native dropped in a 3-foot par putt on the 20th hole to advance.
Neisen will face Mathilda Cappeliez of France, who is currently ranked No. 40 in the world, on Thursday.
The U.S. Women's Amateur started with 156 golfers, who played two rounds of stroke play on the 6,360-yard par-72 course. The field was then cut to 64 and the format switched to match play for the remainder of the tournament. The 36-hole final is scheduled for Sunday, Aug. 16.
