August 10, 2015 | Cowgirl Golf
PORTLAND, Ore. – Oklahoma State sophomores Maddie McCrary and Kenzie Neisen are competing in the 115th U.S. Women's Amateur championship hosted by the USGA at the Portland Golf Club this week.
Neisen tees off Monday at 3:50 p.m. Central, followed shortly by McCrary at 3:55 p.m. Central. To follow the live scoring, go to USGA.org.
The field of 156 golfers will play 36 holes of stroke play on Monday and Tuesday, with the low 64 scorers advancing to match play beginning on Wednesday. The 36-hole final is scheduled for Sunday, Aug. 16. McCrary and Neisen are joined by nine previous USGA champions on the 6,360-yard par-72 course.
Neisen, the 2015 Big 12 individual champion, enters the competition on a hot streak. Last week, she became the first golfer to win the Minnesota State Amateur Championship and the Minnesota State Open in the same season.
Not to be outdone, McCrary rolled to a five-shot victory at the Texas Women's Open in July at Rolling Hills Country Club. The sophomore posted three top-10 showings last year, and earned All-Big 12 honors.
