Neisen Wins State Am Title

EDINA, Minn. — Oklahoma State rising sophomore Kenzie Neisen rolled to victory on Wednesday at the Minnesota Women's State Amateur Championship at Interlachen Country Club.
After opening with a 69, Neisen posted a 76 during her second round to finish 145. With her 1-under total, she finished 12 shots clear of the field at the par-73, 6,295-yard layout.
Neisen's first round featured an opening nine of 5-under 32 that included birdies at Nos. 3, 4, 6, 8 and 9. On her inward nine, she tallied eight pars with her lone bogey of the round coming at the 15th.
During her second round, she posted a birdie at the ninth to turn in 1-over 38 before posting a matching 38 on her second nine to get to her 3-over score and wrap up the title.
The victory was Neisen's first state amateur title after finishing as the event's runner-up in 2012. The win also adds to an impressive list of achievements in her home state that includes a pair of Minnesota Class 3A state championships and the 2014 Minnesota Women's State Match Play title.
