Cowgirls Fifth At South Bend Regional

NOTRE DAME, Ind. - Oklahoma State's women's golf team opened play at the NCAA South Bend Regional on Thursday with a 296 to stand in a tie for fifth place at Warren Golf Course.
The Cowgirls wrapped up the day tied with Kent State and one shot out of fourth place at the par-72, 6,301-yard layout. Duke posted an even-par round of 288 to lead the field by five shots.
Duke's Celine Boutier fired a 67 during her first round to stand atop the individual leaderboard.
Emma Broze led the way for OSU with a 71, tying her for fifth place. The freshman put together a bogey-free front nine that featured birdies at the second and fourth to turn at 2-under 34. Broze moved to 3-under for the day with a birdie at the 12th before moving back to 1-under for the day with bogeys at the 15th and 16th.
Freshman Maddie McCrary was two strokes back of her classmate, posting a 73 to get in tied for 16th place.
Sophomore Linnea Johansson posted a 74 to come in tied for 25th place.
Freshman Kenzie Neisen and sophomore Isabella Deilert finished the day tied fof 61st place after signing for 78s.
The Cowgirls will begin their second round tomorrow at 7:54 a.m. (CST) and will be grouped with UC Davis and Kent State. Live scoring is available at golfstat.com.
