Cowgirls Fourth At Big 12 Championship

SAN ANTONIO - Oklahoma State's women's golf team opened play at the Big 12 Championship on Friday with a 291 total to stand alone in fourth place at The Dominion Country Club.
The top-seeded Cowgirls finished the day a stroke behind Iowa State and two shots behind Texas Tech at the par-72, 6,246-yard layout. Baylor was the lone team to break par during the first round, finishing at 6-under 282 and seven shots clear of the field.
Kansas' Pornvipa Sakdee fired a 4-under 68 to lead the individual race by one.
OSU's Kenzie Neisen came in one shot off the lead and alone in second place after signing for a 69. The freshman moved under par at the second with a birdie then birdied both par 5s on the front side, Nos. 7 and 9, to turn with a bogey-free 33.
After opening her inward nine with two pars, Neisen's lone bogey of the day came at the par-4 12th. After stringing together five consecutive pars, she finished her round with a birdie at the par-5 closing hole.
Sophomore Linnea Johansson and freshman Maddie McCrary were among the 10-player logjam tied for 11th place after signing for 73s.
Sophomore Isabella Deilert posted a 76 to finish the day tied for 30th place.
Freshman Emma Broze rounded out the starting five with a 78, tying her for 37th place.
The Cowgirls will get their second round underway tomorrow at 9 a.m. and will be grouped with TCU and Oklahoma.
