Cowboys Wrap Up Friday Action in La Jolla

LA JOLLA, Calif. - Oklahoma State's men's tennis team completed Friday's competition at the Pacific Coast Men's Doubles Championship in La Jolla, Calif.
The bracket featured three Cowboy duos in addition to Leonard Gerch teaming up with Joe Dorn of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.
The OSU duo of Lucas Gerch and Nicolai Ferrigno earned three wins on the day, advancing to the round of 16. The Cowboys met up with a UNLV doubles team for the second day in a row, this time against Cozbinov/Gage-Brown, who they defeated, 8-3, in the first round. They earned an 8-2 win in the round of 64 over Bergevi and Wikberg of Cal. In their final match of the day, the Cowboy pair put up an 8-4 win against a King/Maymi team.
Joining them in the round of 16 is Lukas Finzelberg and Jurence Mendoza, who put together a solid day as a team. The two started the day with an 8-5 over Dottino/Korber of Georgetown. They then turned in back-to-back 8-4 victories in the rounds of 64 and 32 against the Childree/Workman duo and the Alberts/Amilon team, respectively.
Leonard Gerch and his partner, Dorn, went 1-2, earning a win in the consolation bracket against Georgetown's Dottino and Korber, 8-1.
The Pokes' 17th-ranked doubles team of Jakob Sude and Arjun Kadhe also competed but later withdrew from the tournament.
The Cowboys continue tournament action tomorrow at the La Jolla Beach and Tennis Club.
