FORT WORTH, Texas -- Oklahoma State's women's tennis team won its second conference match this season with a 4-2 road win over the No. 20 TCU Horned Frogs on Friday night.
The wins marks OSU's 13th win over a ranked opponent this season.
The No. 11 Cowgirls (15-3; 2-1 Big 12) started strong, winning doubles matches on courts one and two. The No. 9 duo of Viktoriya Lushkova and Kelsey Laurente won big at the No. 1-spot, earning a 6-2 decision over No. 38 Stefanie Tan and Seda Arantekin. No. 72 Katarina Adamovic and Vladica Babic rounded out the doubles play on court two, defeating the Dubavets/Pereira team, 6-4.
Play on court three was not finished but Maria Alvarez and Carla Tur Mari carried a 5-4 lead.
In singles, the Frogs responded, putting up two wins on courts two and six.
That didn't slow down the Cowgirls as they fired off three-straight wins to clinch their 15th victory of the season.
Katarina Adamovic, ranked No. 85, was the first to pick up a singles win, competing on court three. She defeated Sofiko Kadzhaya in three sets after falling in the first set, 6-1. Adamovic pushed back in the second and third sets and came out victorious, 1-6, 6-3, 6-1.
On court four, Vladica Babic also produced a three-set win, bookending her match with victories. The Cowgirl freshman earned a 6-3 win in the first set and closed out the match with a 6-4 win in the third. It was her 11th win of the spring.
Sophomore Carla Tur Mari sealed the Cowgirl victory with a win over Arantekin on court five. Tur Mari dropped the first set, 6-4, but fought back, giving up only four games collectively in the following two sets. She now holds a 7-2 record when playing at the No. 5 spot.
Play on court one was not finished.
"I am very proud of our girls for a great win tonight," coach Chris Young said. "TCU played a great match, and we had to step up and win three tough three-setters. This was our best win of the season because of what we had to overcome and the way we competed."
OSU continues with Big 12 competition as it heads to Lubbock, Texas, on Sunday to face No. 23 Texas Tech at 12 p.m.
