OSU Track and Field Wraps Up Husker Invitational
February 07, 2015 | Cowboy Cross Country & Track
LINCOLN, Neb. – The Oklahoma State track and field team wrapped up its competition at the Sevigne Husker Invitational Saturday with three of its four athletes finishing in the top four of their respective events.
Craig Nowak continued his improvement as he set his career best in the one mile run for the second straight week. He finished in fourth with a time of 4:05.19. That time also gave him the fourth best time in the Big 12 this season. OSU now holds two of the top five times in the conference with Nowak's time and Vegard Oelstad's 4:01.55 he recorded at last weekend's Razorback Invitational.
“They didn't feel the way they'd like too heading into the championships part of the season,” coach Dave Smith said. "Everyone who competed wanted one more shot because they weren't pleased with how the season started for them. They got done what they needed to get done today.”
Monika Juodeskaite and Caileigh Glenn represented OSU well by finishing second and third, respectively, in the women's one mile run. Juodeskaite's time of 4:46.71 is the second best time in the Big 12 this season.
Glenn finished one place behind her in 4:50.37, nearly 20 seconds better than her season debut time that she recorded at the Razorback Invitational.
In the men's shot put competition, Itamar Levi improved one spot from last year's Husker Invitational with a seventh place finish, throwing 17.57 meters (57-7.75).
As a team, the OSU men finished eighth overall, and the women finished 10th.
