Cowgirls Earn Road Win At Kansas, 65-57

LAWRENCE, Kan. -- Oklahoma State's women's basketball team earned its second consecutive road win on Saturday night, knocking off Kansas, 65-57, in front of 6,385 fans inside Allen Fieldhouse.
OSU improved to 14-8 overall and 4-7 in Big 12 play, while KU fell to 13-11 and 4-7. The victory was also the Cowgirls' sixth consecutive in the series and their sixth-straight triumph in Lawrence.
The Jayhawks hit their first five shots of the night to grab an 11-4 lead. KU, which shot 53 percent in the first 20 minutes, led by as many as 15 before OSU used a 12-2 run to pull within 32-29 with 1:24 to go in the half. The Cowgirls hit seven of their last eight field goals in the period, including a 3-pointer from sophomore Roshunda Johnson at the buzzer, to close the gap to 36-34 at the break.
In a tightly contested second half which featured five lead changes and four ties, OSU took its first lead of the game on a jumper by junior Brittney Martin at the 16:29 mark.
With the Cowgirls leading by two with 10 minutes remaining, Kansas scored the game's next five points to move back in front, 51-48. The Jayhawks took their biggest lead of the half with 6:25 to go on a 3-pointer to extend to a 54-50 advantage.
However, OSU used a 7-0 spurt capped by a steal and layup from junior Roddricka Patton to move back in front for good with just under five minutes remaining.
After KU pulled back within one with three minutes to go, the Cowgirls got clutch baskets from their two seniors, Liz Donohoe and LaShawn Jones, to put the game away.
Martin, who became the 22nd Cowgirl to reach 1,000 career points during the contest, and Johnson led OSU with 16 points apiece. Donohoe turned in a double-double effort, finishing with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
Jones finished with 12 points off the bench, while Patton added six assists.
The Cowgirls will return home to host Texas on Wednesday night at 7 p.m.
