Cowgirls Tame Texas Southern, 87-52

STILLWATER, Okla. – Dominant defense led the way as Oklahoma State's women's basketball team defeated Texas Southern, 87-52, in front of 2,057 fans inside Gallagher-Iba Arena.
Aside from one made free throw, the Cowgirls didn't allow TSU (0-2) to score until six minutes had already passed.
OSU (2-0) forced 21 turnovers in the game and controlled both the offensive and defensive glass, outrebounding TSU 53-24. Nine different Cowgirls grabbed at least one rebound.
Senior Brittney Martin, who made her 100th career start, had two of her game-high four steals in the first five minutes of action.
Martin led all scorers with 24 points and added three assists as well as seven rebounds in the game, bringing her within three boards of reaching 800 for her career.
Sophomore Kaylee Jensen was a force on both ends for the Cowgirls, scoring 15 points, blocking four shots and grabbing12 rebounds to record her first career double-double.
In the fourth quarter, junior Katelyn Loecker found her shooting stroke for OSU.
Loecker scored 10 of the Cowgirls' first 12 points of the quarter. She finished the game with a career-high 14 points on 5-8 shooting. It is the second-consecutive game that Loecker has set a new career high for points scored.
The win marks the 42nd consecutive non-conference home victory for OSU and improves the Cowgirls to 7-0 all-time against TSU.
OSU will be back in action on Friday night when the Cowgirls take on SIU Edwardsville inside Gallagher-Iba Arena at 7 p.m.
