ATHENS, Ga. -
Oklahoma State men's tennis members Jakob Sude and Arjun Kadhe continued their run through the NCAA Doubles Championships on Saturday by overwhelming No. 15 Sarkissian/Alcantara of Pepperdine, 6-4, 6-3, at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex in Athens, Ga.
After earning All-American honors on Friday, Kadhe and Sude used today's victory to become the first doubles team in program history to reach the competition's semifinal round, topping Mark Johnson and Kirk Loomis' quarterfinal run in 1981.
The 14th-ranked Cowboy doubles tandem fell behind early after Pepperdine broke serve first, but Kadhe and Sude answered the 4-3 deficit by winning the final three games of a 6-4 first set success. An early break in set two gave the Pokes a 3-1 advantage, providing enough momentum to hold serve throughout the rest of the straight sets victory.
With Saturday's win, Kadhe and Sude recorded their 10th win of the season over a ranked opponent, improving the duo's overall spring record to 15-2.
The Cowboys will continue their quest for an NCAA doubles title at 3 p.m. on Sunday by taking on third-ranked Metka/Kobelt of Ohio State.
