MANOA, Hawaii -
The No. 18 Oklahoma State men's tennis team recorded its fifth-consecutive shutout on Monday in a 7-0 victory over San Francisco at the University of Hawaii Tennis Complex.
OSU (16-2) set a new program record in today's win, which marked the most consecutive matches won without conceding a point. During the five-match streak, the Cowboys have won 21 consecutive singles matches and taken eight out of nine doubles battles.
In doubles play, Chris Haworth and Brady Bohrnstedt pushed their win streak to four in an 8-1 triumph over USF's Takemoto/Tallman at No. 3. Oklahoma State then picked up the doubles point with an 8-2 victory from Gerch/Sachs at No. 2, marking the German duo's second-straight win after falling in their first two contests of the season.
Five of the Cowboys' top six contributors grabbed victories in singles play, highlighted by Bohrnstedt's 10th win of 2014. The senior improved his perfect singles record by overpowering San Francisco's Nils Skajaa at the No. 3 spot, 6-2, 6-2.
Gerch's 6-0, 6-7, 6-1 success over Thomas Takemoto pushed his team-leading singles win count to 11 and kept his individual campaign perfect in dual match play. Nicolai Ferringo picked up his fifth-consecutive victory, and Haworth, Sude and Sachs rounded out singles play with wins of their own.
The Cowboys will wrap up their midweek road trip tomorrow in a 7 p.m. matchup against Hawaii. For more updates and information, follow @CowboyTennis on Twitter.
