Cowboy Tennis Crushes No. 64 San Diego State, 4-0

SAN DIEGO, Calif. -
The No. 18 Oklahoma State men's tennis team rebounded from its first loss of the season last weekend by shutting out No. 64 San Diego State, 4-0, Thursday at the Aztec Tennis Center.
After the match was nearly postponed due to inclement weather, OSU (11-1) used its first doubles point in the last three matches and its strength from the bottom of the singles lineup to record its fifth sweep of the year and recover from Sunday's defeat at No. 32 Tulsa.
Two first-time doubles teams earned the early point for the Cowboys, as Arjun Kadhe and Jakob Sude earned an 8-4 win at the No. 1 spot, and Chris Haworth and Brady Bohrnstedt, last season's top No. 3 duo, combined to take down SDSU's Florez/Ianakiev, 8-6.
In singles play, Lucas Gerch recorded his team-leading eighth singles victory in a 6-1, 6-1 rout over Freddy Gelbrich, pushing the freshman's dual match record to 8-0. Nicolai Ferrigno then overpowered Juan Florez at the No. 6 spot, 6-4, 6-0, in his first appearance since the Cowboys' win over Georgia State.
With courts one, two and four locked in third-set action, Haworth clinched the match by registering Oklahoma State's third straight set sweep of the night. The Oklahoma City native's 6-4, 6-2 win over Maxi Boewer-Stelter improved his singles record to 6-2 and solidified the Pokes' 11th win of the season.
With the win, OSU completed its six-match road trip with a 5-1 record and four victories over ranked opponents. The Cowboys will compete in this weekend's Pacific Coast Doubles tournament in La Jolla, Calif., before returning home for a critical battle against No. 19 Wake Forest on March 7.
