Cowboy Tennis Overpowers No. 68 ETSU, Continues Hot Start

The No. 51 Oklahoma State men's tennis team pushed its season opening win streak to four on Friday in a 4-2 success over 68th-ranked East Tennessee State at the Greenwood Tennis Center.
OSU (4-0) earned its second win over a ranked opponent this year by sweeping the Buccaneers in doubles play and earning individual victories from some of the young season's most consistent singles standouts.
Jakob Sude and Matt Campbell set the tone early on for the Cowboys, defeating ETSU's top doubles squad of Merino/Nunez, 6-3. Newcomers Nicolai Ferrigno and Lucas Gerch then helped the Pokes grab the doubles point and remain undefeated in doubles play with a 6-4 win over Pabon/Huertas.
Freshman Arjun Kadhe earned his team-leading third victory of the year in a 6-2, 6-2 defeat over ETSU's Diego Nunez at the No. 2 spot to kick off singles play for the Cowboys, giving the team a 2-0 lead. Shortly after, Brady Bohrnstedt pushed the margin to three with another strong performance at No. 4 singles in the senior's 6-2, 6-0 romp over Roger Ordeig.
With Oklahoma State on the verge of its third sweep of the year, ETSU tightened the match with wins at Nos. 5 and 6, but was eventually tamed after Gerch's 6-3, 6-4 triumph over Sebastian Yllera.
The four-match win streak to open up the season matches the team's best since 2007, when the Cowboys finished 19-5 and advanced to the Sweet Sixteen.
OSU will look to extend that streak on Saturday when it hosts Dartmouth at the Greenwood Tennis Center at 3:30 p.m. The Big Green is coming off a 4-3 upset over No. 58 Arkansas earlier today, and has also brought in the new year with an undefeated start. Free pizza will be provided for all fans in attendance.
