Future Cowboys Shine in All-Star Game

FORT WORTH, Texas — The Oklahoma State freshmen duo of Jeffrey Carroll and Leyton Hammonds scored 16 and 15 points, respectively, pacing the North squad to a 111-86 win over the South in the Texas High School Coaches Association All-Star game here Monday night on the TCU campus.
Carroll finished the night 6-of-10 from the floor, including 2-of-4 from beyond the three-point arc, and 2-of-2 from the free-throw line. He also grabbed four defensive rebounds and recorded an assist, one block and a steal. Three of his six field goals were dunks.
Hammonds went 5-of-9 from the field, including 2-of-6 from long range. He also made 3-of-4 free throws. The 6-8 forward had three defensive rebounds, two assists, two steals and took a charge defensively.
During halftime, both Cowboys showcased their skills. Hammonds won the slam-dunk competition, while Carroll finished second in the three-point competition. After tying for first place with 17 treys in the first round, he lost in the shootout, 10-9.
