Casie Cathrea Qualifies For U.S. Women's Open

DALY CITY, Calif. - Oklahoma State freshman-to-be Casie Cathrea posted a 140 total to win the U.S. Women's Open Sectional Qualifying event at Lake Merced Golf Club and advance to next month's U.S. Women's Open.
Cathrea's 4-under total included rounds of 69 and 71 and was good for a four-shot victory while sealing one of the qualifier's three spots.
The Livermore, Calif., native's berth in the major championship adds to an impressive resumé. She has already participated in three LPGA events. Cathrea became the second-youngest player to ever Monday qualify for a Tour event, earning a spot in the CVS/pharmacy LPGA Challenge as a 13-year-old.
The U.S. Women's Open will take place on June 27-30 at Sebonack Golf Club in Southhampton, N.Y.
