NORMAN, Okla. — Ari Morrison went 2-for-3, but Oklahoma State's Cowgirl softball team fell to top-ranked Oklahoma 4-0 here Saturday afternoon before 1,597 fans here at Marita Hynes Field. The Sooners have won the first-two games of the series with the finale set for 1 pm Sunday in Stillwater.
Oklahoma State threatened to score on a few occasions, but came up short. With one out in the top of the second, Tiffany Mikkelson was hit by a pitch and advanced to second on a wild pitch, but got stranded in scoring position.
Morrison led off the fourth with a base hit and moved to third on a single by Mikkelson, but Sooner hurler Michelle Gascoigne forced Amy Graham to pop up for the third out. In the sixth, Morrison got another base hit and with two outs senior Samantha Chrisman singled to put two on. Gascoigne struck Mikkelson out to end the frame.
Oklahoma got all the scoring it needed in the bottom of the first. Lauren Chamberlain led off with a single, and after a sacrifice bunt moved her to second, she scored on a double by Shelby Pendley. The Sooners made it 3-0 on a two-run double by Chamberlain, who was thrown out at third attempting to stretch it into a triple. Back-to-back base hits by Javen Henson and Brianna Turang in the bottom of the sixth gave OU its fourth run of the contest.
