The Oklahoma State softball team dropped its regular-season finale 5-0 to top-ranked Oklahoma here Sunday afternoon at Cowgirl Stadium. The Cowgirls finish the regular season at 30-26.
The Sooners (47-4, 15-2 Big 12) scored the only runs they needed in the top of the third inning when Lauren Chamberlain hit her first of two two-run home runs to take a 2-0 lead. OU added another in the top of the fifth on an RBI single by Shelby Pendley, and Chamberlain hit her second homer of the game in the seventh.
Sooner senior Keilani Ricketts threw her fifth no-hitter of the season and the sixth of her career. She was one batter away from facing the minimum, but hit Gessenia DeLaCruz with a pitch in the bottom of the third inning.
Freshman Erika Campbell made a spectacular play in the top of the sixth inning when Jessica Shults hit a deep line drive to the wall in right field, but Campbell snagged the ball and brought it back in play, saving a run.
Cowgirl senior Kat Espinosa (18-19) threw a complete game, allowing five runs on six hits while striking out five.
The Cowgirls (30-26, 6-12) will await their post-season fate tonight when the NCAA announces its tournament selection at 9 p.m. on ESPNU.
