RHODES, Iowa - Oklahoma State's women's golf team posted a 317 during its opening round at the Big 12 Championship on Friday to stand alone in second place at The Harvester Golf Club.
Battling temperatures in the 30s and winds gusting up to 30 mph at the par-72, 6,055-yard layout, the Cowgirls' 29-over-par total put them just a shot off the pace of Texas Tech. Baylor finished the day in third place with a 319 tally. Seven teams will begin tomorrow's second round within 11 shots of Tech.
With the unfavorable scoring conditions producing an average individual score of 82.22, nobody in the field was able to break par.
Baylor's Lauren Taylor turned in a 2-over 74 to lead by a stroke over Tech's Kimberly Kaufman.

After a bogey-double bogey start, Yang played her final 16 holes 1-over par with a pair of birdies against three bogeys during that stretch.
Senior Kelsey Vines and junior Josephine Jansonalso finished the round in the top 10. Vines' 79 put her in sole possession of eighth place, while Janson's 80 tied her for ninth place.
Junior Jayde Panos carded an 82 to come in tied for 24th place, while junior Lauren Falley's85 tied her for 34th place.
