Cowgirls Tied For Fifth At Gator Invite

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Oklahoma State's women's golf team opened play at the Gator Women's Invitational on Friday with a 293 team score to stand in a tie for fifth place at Mark Bostick Golf Course.
The Cowgirls' 13-over total tied them with Mississippi State and put them three shots behind Miami for fourth place. Oklahoma posted a 285 to lead the team race by a stroke over Alabama at the par-70, 6,002-yard layout.
A pair of players shared the individual lead with Alabama's Stephanie Meadow and Virginia's Portland Rosen each carding 2-under 68s to stand clear of a quartet of players.
Among the four players at 1-under was OSU's Josephine Janson. The junior made the turn at 1-over after carding eight pars and a bogey on her outward nine. Janson rallied with birdies at the 10th and 11th to move under par with seven holes remaining. After a bogey at the 13th, she moved back into red figures with a birdie at the 15th.
Freshman Julie Yangopened with a 74 to stand in a tie for 29th place.
Senior Kelsey Vines and junior Jayde Panoscame in a stroke back with 75s and tied for 32nd place.
Junior Lauren Falley's77 knotted her for 48th place.
The Cowgirls will get their second round underway tomorrow morning at 9:45 a.m. (EST) and will be grouped with Miami and Mississippi State.
