Cowboys Wrap Up Day One At the Tyson Invitational
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark.-- Three OSU runners set personal bests in their respective events to highlight day one of the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark., on Friday.
In the Men's 800 meter Olympic division, junior Tyler Payton finished in fifth, with a time of 1:51.07. That mark was good enough for a personal best and the eighth-fastest 800m time in OSU history.
Sophomore Lance Gray also set a personal best in the 800m run, with a time of 1:54.33, finishing fifth in the event.
In the men's mile, freshman Korey Krotzer completed the personal best trio with a time of 4:08.65, which was good enough for second in his heat and 10th in the event.
In the women's weight throw, Caitlin Way finished in 11th, heaving the weight 17.66m/57-11.25.
"Caitlin was ninth last year here at 17.13 meters," OSU throwing coach John Baumann said. "So for her to throw it 17.66 meters and finish 11th just means there was some good competition here this year."
On the men's side, Nick Miller finished in sixth with a throw of 18.49m/60-08.00.
Tomorrow's events begin at 11 a.m.
