Cowgirls Prepare for Cathedral City Classic

STILLWATER, Okla. - The Oklahoma State's softball team will travel to Palm Springs, Calif., this weekend to compete in the Cathedral City Classic. The Cowgirls will play five games in three days, three against top 25 teams.
OSU (5-4) will begin play Thursday afternoon when they play fifth-ranked Florida at 3 p.m. CT, followed by a contest against BYU at 5:30 p.m. CT. The Cowgirls are 0-1 all-time against the Gators and 3-3 against the Cougars. They also defeated BYU at last year's Cathedral City Classic, 3-2.
OSU wraps up play Saturday when it take on 13th-ranked UCLA at 4:30 p.m. CT and Long Beach State at 9:30 p.m. The Cowgirls are 5-9 all-time against the Bruins and 3-0 all-time against the 49ers.
The Cowgirls are coming off a 3-2 weekend at the Lovelace Invitational, hosted by North Texas. Samantha Chrisman racked up four hits, two doubles, a homerun and seven RBI's during the weekend.
Pitchers Kat Espinosa and Simone Freeman also had an exceptional weekend. Espinosa (1-2) went 0-2 on the weekend, but she only allowed four runs on eleven hits, and stuck out 8. She currently sports a .59 ERA on the season. Freeman (4-2) picked up all three wins, allowing five runs on 11 hits, walking five and striking out 26.
Chrisman and Tarah Ettinger were named to the Lovelace Invitational All-Tournament Team.
