Miller also set an Oklahoma State school record when he launched a 7.26 kilogram hammer 67.56 meters/221-08 at the Hammerama meet in Scotland.

From Head Coach Dave Smith
On the importance of early season meets "The deeper into the season you go, the more important the meets are. The fact of indoor season is it's so short. Our conference meet is six weeks away so that means we have a six-week season for most of the athletes. We have a couple of big meets that we're looking forward too. There's one in Arkansas on the 26th of this month, and there will be very good competition there. Two weeks later we go to Seattle to compete at the University of Washington, and that's a really big meet for us. There is a really high level of competition, and we usually get a lot of PR's out of that meet. In terms of places and competing we're obviously focused on the Big 12 meet. We need to get out of the cellar for the women, and the men we want to keep competing with that top half of the conference. I think both teams could end up in the top half of the conference this year, and that would be the first time that's happened in a long time."
On posting seven PR's at Kansas State All-Comers "It was an awesome start to the season. For most of those kids who competed, they hadn't done anything since May. To come right out the block like that in the first competition and to already be better than they left off last year is pretty impressive. I think the throws group had an especially good meet and had a lot of PR's and big marks, and that's pretty exciting.
