Smart Starts in USA Victory

Sao Sebastiao dos Paraiso, Brazil -- Marcus Smart, an incoming freshman on the Oklahoma State men's basketball team, started for the USA U18 National Team as the Americans defeated the U.S. Virgin Islands 105-42 here Saturday afternoon in the first game of the FIBA Americas U18 Championship.
The USA U18 team took advantage of its bigger players as the frontcourt scored 79 of the team's 105 points. The U.S. Squad also outrebounded the Virgin Islands, 64-30.
As one of the starting guards for the U.S. team, Smart scored three points and dished out two assists while grabbing two rebounds in 15 minutes. He also blocked a shot and had a team-high two steals.
