COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Oklahoma State men's tennis team lost its Big 12 opener to Texas A&M, 5-2, on Friday night at the George P. Mitchell Tennis Center.
Senior Vlad Bondarenko scored the upset victory against No. 29 Alexis Klegou, 6-3, 6-3, at No. 1 singles for his second victory against a ranked opponent this season. Freshman Chris Haworth won his 11th match of the year after beating Colin Hoover, 6-4, 6-4, but those would be the only matches the Cowboys would win.
The Aggies opened the dual with a sweep of the doubles matches, and they won the first three singles matches to secure the victory. Sophomore Rifat Biktyakov played a close match against Junior Ore, but eventually fell 6-7, 6-1, 10-3.
The Cowboys fall to 7-8 on the year, while the Aggies improve to 11-8. OSU will return to action on Sunday when they take on the Longhorns at 1 p.m. in Austin.
