Cowboys Finish Fourth at Spring Classic

SAN DIEGO, Calif. – The Oklahoma State men's tennis team wrapped up competition at the San Diego Hilton Mission Valley Spring Classic on Friday night, falling to No. 51 San Diego State, 4-0, in the third-place match.
Only singles matches were played, with the Aztecs winning the first four to claim victory in the contest. Hunter Nicholas defeated Eric West, 6-2, 6-4, handing the Cowboy senior his first loss of the season. Derek Siddiqui defeated Rifat Biktyakov 6-3, 6-1, at the No. 2 spot.
At No. 5 singles, Freddy Gelbrich scored a 6-2, 6-2, victory against junior Trevor Horstmann, while Rickey Baylon beat sophomore Brandon Champagne, 6-3, 6-1 at the No. 6 spot. Vlad Bondarenko's and Chris Haworth's matches were not finished.
The Cowboys fall to 5-7 on the year and will return to action for a pair of midweek matches on March 20 and 22 in West Palm Beach, Fla.
