OSU Tennis Strong in Second Day of RazorRacket Invitational

FAYETTEVILLE Ark. – The Oklahoma State men's tennis team wrapped up the second day at the RazorRacket Invitational with strong performances against host Arkansas and Missouri-Kansas City.
The Cowboys finished the day with a 3-1 combined record in doubles play and won seven of their eight singles matches as well.
In the morning session, the Cowboys took three of the four singles matches against the Razorbacks. Senior Vlad Bondarenko defeated Taj Harrison in straight sets, 6-1, 6-1. Freshman Christopher Haworth continued to play well as he defeated Mike Nott 6-1, 6-1.
Sophomore Rifat Biktyakov defeated Hall Fess in two tight sets, 6-4, 6-4. Trevor Horstmann was the only Cowboy to fall in singles play during the day, as he lost to Matt Walters 6-1, 6-3.
In doubles matches against Arkansas, Bondarenko and Biktyakov beat the tandem of Harrison and Nott 8-6. Fess and Walters defeated Horstmann and Haworth 8-2.
In the afternoon session, OSU won every matchup against UMKC. In singles play, Bondarenko had a strong performance against Nino Hasandedic, winning 6-2, 6-0. Horstmann played well in his second singles match, defeating T. Akhmedov, 6-1, 6-3.
Haworth won his second match against Abdulrahman Alawadhi, 6-2, 6-3. Biktyakov had the closest match against UMKC, as he defeated Grant Fleming 6-4, 7-6(2).
In doubles play against UMKC, Horstmann and Haworth took down Hasandedic and Tomas Patino 8-1, while Biktyakov and Bondarenko defeated Fleming and Akhmedov 8-3.
The Cowboys will finish up the RazorRacket Invitational on Sunday at 9 a.m., but their opponent has yet to be decided.
