KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Oklahoma State's women's basketball team was eliminated during the first round of play at the Big 12 Championship on Tuesday, suffering a 75-52 loss to Texas Tech in front of 3,257 fans inside Municipal Auditorium.
The Cowgirls (16-14 overall, 4-12 Big 12) raced out to an early 8-0 lead while holding the Lady Raiders (22-9, 8-8) without a field goal for the game's first four minutes.
Tech clawed back over the next eight minutes and drew even at 15 apiece before taking a four-point lead at 19-15 when Kierra Mallard capped an 8-0 run with a jumper.
With OSU struggling offensively to the tune of a 9-of-35 (26 percent) performance in the half, the Lady Raiders headed into the half with a 26-22 advantage.
Trailing by 10, the Cowgirls got back-to-back 3-pointers from freshman Tiffany Bias and junior Carolyn Blair-Mobley to cut the deficit to 40-36 with 14 minutes remaining. However, OSU's offense once again went silent as the Cowgirls missed their next eight shots from the floor and were held scoreless until 5:56 remained in the contest and Tech holding a 23-point advantage.
OSU freshman Vicky McIntyre led all scorers with 21 points, while sophomore Toni Young added eight points and a game-high 11 rebounds.
