Cowgirls In Ninth At Bruin Wave Invite

SANTA CLARITA, Calif. - Oklahoma State's women's golf team opened play on Monday at the Bruin Wave Invitational with a 305 team total at Robinson Ranch Golf Club to stand in ninth place.
The Cowgirls' 17-over total put them one shot behind Stanford and just two strokes behind a trio of teams for the No. 5 spot. UNLV, BYU and Texas all finished at 303 for the day. UCLA lit up the par-72, 6,282-yard layout with a 7-under 281 to jump out to an 11-shot lead over Arizona.
UCLA's Glory Yang and San Diego State's Malin Enarsson shared the top spot on the individual leaderboard after carding 3-under 69s.
After missing OSU's last event, Jayde Panos made her return with a 2-over 74 to stand in a tie for 17th place. The Perth, Australia native went out with an even-par 36 on her front nine that included her lone birdie of the day at the par-4 fifth hole. With bogeys at the 12th and 18th, Panos came in with a 38 on her inward nine to finish at 2-over par for the day.
Sophomore Hillary Wood posted a 75, which included four birdies, to finish among the group tied for 21st place.
Freshman Josephine Janson posted a 77 to stand in a tie for 36th place, while classmate Jade Staggs' 79 knotted her for 53rd place.
Junior Jocelyn Alford opened with an 80 to finish the day tied for 57th place.
The Cowgirls will resume action tomorrow when they begin their second round at 8:30 (PST). OSU will be grouped with Pepperdine and UNLV.
