LAS VEGAS, Nev. – The No. 57 Oklahoma State men's tennis team won its second-consecutive match Friday, topping UNLV, 4-3, at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.
The Cowboys, now 2-3 on the year, earned the first team point of the day after taking the Nos. 1 and 3 doubles matches.
OSU's fourth-ranked tandem of Aleksey Bessonov and Rifat Biktyakov stayed a perfect 3-0 on the season with an 8-4 win over Mehdi Bouras and Bernard Schoeman on the No. 1 court, while Eric West and Ilija Martinoski then sealed the doubles point as they knocked off Alex Bull and Rene Ruegamer at No. 3, 8-5.
The teams then split the six singles matches, as Bessonov, West and Martinoski, who is now 3-0 in dual play, earned wins at Nos. 4, 5 and 6, respectively, to seal the victory and end a four-match winning streak for the Rebels.
Oklahoma State is scheduled to resume action in Las Vegas Saturday as they take on 52nd-ranked UC Irvine at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.
