Cowgirls Tie For 17th In Puerto Rico

RIO GRANDE, P.R. - Oklahoma State's women's golf team posted a 311 team total during its final round at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic on Tuesday to tie for 17th at Rio Mar Country Club.
The Cowgirls finished with a 75-over-par total of 939 to stand in a tie with North Carolina State and one shot behind Penn State at the par-72, 6,191-yard layout. Alabama posted a 291 to hold off Iowa State for a five-shot victory. The Crimson Tide finished at 875 with the Cyclones following at 880.
Alabama's Stephanie Meadow fired a 3-under 69 to finish at 4-under 212 and one shot clear of the field.
OSU junior Jocelyn Alford was the top finisher for the Cowgirls, posting a 77 to come in at 234 and tied for 47th place.
Freshman Josephine Janson signed for a 81 following her third round to tie for 67th place at 237, while classmate Jade Staggs finished a stroke back at 238 and tied for 71st place.
Sophomore Hillary Wood carded the squad's low round of the day with a 76 to tie for 79th at 240.
Freshman Lauren Falley rounded out the lineup with a 78 to finish 89th with a 243 total.
The Cowgirls will return to action on Feb. 28 at the Bruin Wave Invitational in Santa Clarita, Calif.
