Cowgirls Tied for 12th In Puerto Rico

RIO GRANDE, P.R. - Oklahoma State's women's golf team posted a 311 total during its first round at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic on Sunday to stand in a tie for 12th place at Rio Mar Country Club.
The Cowgirls' 23-over-par team score knotted them with North Carolina State and put them two shots clear of Auburn and Oregon at the par-72, 6,191-yard layout. Alabama fired a 2-under 286 to finish the day as the lone squad under par. Purdue and Iowa State wrapped up the day tied for second place at 300.
Alabama's Camilla Lennarth carded a 2-under 70 to grab the individual lead by one over a trio of players.
A pair of freshmen led the way for OSU as Josephine Janson and Jade Staggs each carded 77s to finish the day tied for 31st place.
Junior Jocelyn Alford was a stroke back with a 78 to stand in a tie for 42nd place.
Making her first career start, freshman Lauren Falley posted a 79 and came in tied for 55th place.
Sophomore Hillary Wood signed for an 86 to finish tied for 93rd place.
The Cowgirls will begin their second round tomorrow morning at 8 a.m. (AST).
