Susa Runs Top Time at Husky Classic

SEATTLE, Wash. – The Oklahoma State track and field program turned in several of its best times of the season Saturday at the Husky Classic, highlighted by the performances of German Fernandez and Tom Farrell in the men's 3,000 meters, who both turned in automatic qualifying times for the NCAA Indoor Championships.
Fernandez crossed the line in the event at 7:53.82, while Farrell followed closely behind at 7:54.42, his personal best time. Farrell's time also places him fourth on the OSU all-time performance list.
The women's highlight of the meet also came in the 3,000-meter run, where senior Mihaela Susa turned in the best time of her career by more than five seconds. Her time of 9:16.51 gave her the best collegiate time at the meet and moved her into second place on Oklahoma State's all-time performance list.
Natalja Piliusina also provided some excitement for the Cowgirls as she turned in the third-best indoor mile time in school history, finishing in 4:39.39, missing the automatic NCAA qualifying mark by about two seconds.
Saturday also marked Oklahoma State's last day of competition at the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark., where Clarissa Andrews placed 10th in the triple jump with a mark of 12.48 meters.
OSU track and field returns to action Feb. 19, travelling to Norman, Okla., to compete at the Sooner Invitational.
