Stillwater, Okla. -- Oklahoma State's Cowboy Basketball team travels to Birmingham, Ala., for a matchup with the Alabama Crimson Tide Wednesday night in the BJCC Arena. Tipoff is set for 8 p.m., and the game will be televised on ESPN2.
OSU is 6-4 overall this season and the Cowboys' four losses have come against teams that have combined for a 36-7 overall schedule, including two losses to Syracuse, currently the No. 1 team in the country.
Alabama is 8-3 on the year, but has lost three of its last four games. The Crimson Tide won the Puerto Rico Tip Off earlier this season. UA is led by senior forward JaMychal Green, who is averaging 15.9 points and 7.0 rebounds per game.
The overall series between these two teams on the hardwood is tied at 3-3. Oklahoma State won last year's matchup, a 68-60 win in the All-College Classic in Oklahoma City.
Gulley Granted Release
Stillwater, Okla. -- Oklahoma State redshirt sophomore Fred Gulley has requested and been granted his release, head coach Travis Ford announced today.
"We appreciate what Fred has done for us over the past two-plus seasons," Ford said. "We wish him nothing but the best and hope that he does well in his future endeavors."
Gulley had played in eight of 10 games for the Cowboys this season, starting five. He was averaging 4.0 points and 2.5 rebounds in just over 18 minutes per contest. He matched his career high with eight points earlier this season at Missouri State, and grabbed a season-high five rebounds against the Bears.
In a career riddled by injuries, the Fayetteville, Ark., native started the first seven games of the 2010-11 season before undergoing shoulder surgery which forced him to miss the rest of the season. Gulley also missed two games this year after suffering a shoulder injury in the Stanford contest.
