Cowboy Tennis Wraps Up At ITA All-American Championships

TULSA, Okla. – The Oklahoma State men's tennis players finished play at the ITA Men's All-American Championships tonight at the Case Tennis Center in Tulsa.
Two Cowboy doubles tandems competed the past two days in the doubles qualifying rounds. The No. 15 pairing of sophomore Maniel Bains and Eric West received a bye in the first round of qualifying. They defeated Conor Berg and Ben Dunbar of New Mexico, 9-8(6), in the second round on Tuesday.
The pair was defeated today by Devin McCarthy and Ille Van Engelen of Ohio State, 8-6.
The duo of sophomore Rifat Biktyakov and senior Vlad Bondarenko was defeated today in the third round of qualifying by Andrew Butz and Bob van Overbeek from Florida, 8-6.
The pair also received a first round bye and followed that by beating Philippe Oudshoorn and Steven Rooda of Virginia in the second round of qualifying yesterday, 8-3.
Bains also competed in qualifying singles earlier in the week. He lost during the first round to Ben Davis of Middle Tennessee in three sets. He took the first set, 6-4, but dropped the final two sets, 6-1, 6-3.

Ben Davis (Middle Tennessee) def. Maniel Bains (Oklahoma State), 4-6, 6-1, 6-3.
